Got Out of the House

It's no fun when you day out of the house is a continuing legal education seminar. It really sucks, in fact. I like seeing other adults. Not seeing other adults all day drives me crazy. And frankly, when Alan does get home from work, he has to clean and cook and take care of Ander, and we really don't get to visit. But a nice dinner out or an evening at a coffee shop would have been much more fun.

Ander is spendiing the night at my mom's. It's really hard to have him spend an overnight once a week, but there's just no way to avoid it and stay on bedrest. :/ It's sort of weird to come home and have my son not be here.

Etcetera.

  1. Hey, K. You've made continuing jokes about problems singing. There's a nice article on recent research on this topic in Scientific American. Here's the link. Short version: People who cannot sing are not necessarily tone deaf. In fact, most aren't.

  3. Paca - LOL. :) So maybe I am just a bad singer! I really should sing for y'all one day; it's quite a treat. ;)

Gretchen - Thank God for the Olympics.

  4. Uhm, no Paca, Kristy is actually truly tone deaf. If you play music notes for her on a piano she can't really tell the tone or pitch changes until it moves up three or four notes. She often laments that instrumental portions of songs sound like the same note repeated ad nauseum, la la la la laaaa, la la la.

  5. So, Kristy, can you tell the difference between a question and a statement when the person just uses intonation?

    That's a chicken.
    That's a chicken?

Sammy, please demonstrate these for her and report back.

    :)

  6. If you really stress the question a lot, I can. For example, if you do it to a comical level or if I'm looking at you when you do it, I can tell the difference. But I have had trouble telling the difference time after time, and I used to use context and ask my students if they were asking a question or not.
