There are critical parts of a day when looking at your planner can be most helpful.
TIP: Set an alarm on your phone or laptop when first teaching yourself to look at your planner at these times.
WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF WAKE UP
Take just a second and make sure you aren't forgetting anything about today.
TIP: Store your planner by your alarm clock overnight. It will be handy for writing down late night thoughts. Make your first act of the morning checking your planner and moving it to your work tote or purse.
BEFORE LEAVING HOME
Always make sure you have everything that you need for the day with you by glancing at your schedule and anticipated tasks.
UPON ARRIVAL AT WORK
Stay-at-home moms might want to dedicate a particular time as arrival. For me, it's when I make my coffee (for household days) or log onto my work computer (for working an outside job days).
BEFORE LEAVING WORK
Check on what's happening tomorrow.
ON ARRIVAL HOME
Get the dinner out of the freezer to defrost.
BEFORE BED
Prep for the next day. Put your planner by your alarm clock.
In other words, if there is a transition, check your planner!
Etcetera.
P.S. I got creative in my picture (above). Can you guess what is holding up the watch?

That last sentence "if there's a transition, check your planner!" may be just the advice I needed.
I don't leave home that much and I usually work from the couch, but transitions don't need to be physical, right? I just need to remember to look at my planner whenever I start doing something else, even when I know what's next on the list. That way I may see things that I didn't remember being on my list or schedule.
Oh, and holding up your watch (time), is that a glasses case (look)? Very creative indeed ;-)
Not a glasses case. ;)
That's exactly right. A transition can be when you make breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Or when a tv show ends. Anything that switches what you are focusing on.
Is it a wrist guard? The kind you can use for your mouse?
Thanks for the transition suggestion! I have been a bad planner user this month and it shows. Tried WO2P this month and I did not do well. Back to DO2 for me.
P.S. Is that an eyeglass case?
No. :)
A stocking?
A remote control for the Xbox One! ;)
Pen case?
No. :)
