If you use a paper planner, sometimes you have to reschedule.
The extra burden of rescheduling on paper one of the biggest drawbacks of paper planning, but there are things that you can do to minimize the extra work involved in rescheduling when plans change.
Circle Items to Reschedule
By circling them, the items visually POP so you don't miss rescheduling something.
Use Movable Notes
Use sticky notes for combination tasks so you can reschedule the entire project or set of tasks at once.
If you have a single errands day, for example, consider putting all the errands on one sticky note.
That way, if you get a flat tire and errands don't get done, you can just move the note to another day.
Schedule Wisely
Include time to prepare, travel, and clean up after each appointment or task, so that you don't run out of time and find yourself forced to reschedule.

I think the biggest thing for me was learning to schedule more wisely. What I wanted to get done and thought I should be able to get done weren't realistic. Then I would be frustrated. I plan more realistically now, and that helps me prioritize. Still, there are things that don't go according to plan, but at least I get closer. :)
I have used the sticky note method quite a bit, and that seems to work well for me. I'm trying something new this month. I felt like I had a gazillion things that needed to be done RIGHT NOW, but knew that wasn't going to happen. I wrote my to-do list, communications list, and some other lists at the front of the month instead of on the weekly or daily spreads, and I have made myself notes to check those lists. This is the second week, and it seems to be working so far. :)
