A Guide to Gifts for the Obsessively Organized People in Your Life

Even though I blog about organizing all the time, I do not consider myself obsessed with organizing.

I don't even use a label maker! Well, unless a Sharpie marker counts...

But for your loved ones who crave more order in their lives, I've created a list of gift ideas that you might not thought of them. (And if you have thought of them, maybe they should go on your own wish list!)

Of course, I won't just leave you hanging with a typical Gift Guide.

Instead, I'll suggest some unique ways to use these items that you might not have thought of doing!

*Grab 'n Go Organizer

I love this organizer because it has a place for all the stuff that leaves your house with you. The labeled slots teach you to put stuff next to the doorway for an easier time during the morning rush to leave the house.

Alternate Use: This would be a great sticky note memo box for the whole family! For a family of three, for example, you could label the top row with names like Mom, Dad, and Kid, and the bottom row with lists that the family contributes to, like groceries, shopping, and dates to add to the family calendar.

*Key Clips

Key clips are great for hanging keys from your purse so they never get lost in its depths.

Alternate Use: Is there something else you are constantly losing? Sew a little loop to it and these key clips would hold it in place

I have a small wallet for my gym visits, including my gym card, a small lock for the locker, and my ear buds. These key clips would hold the wallet in place so I don't have to search in the bottom of my purse or gym bag for my gym card!

*Jewelry Armoire Cheval Mirror

Alternate Use: There are five picture slots. Those strike me as the perfect place to insert photos of the wardrobe you plan to wear each day of the week or inspiration quotes.

Of course, the organizer in me wants to just put my daily chores in each photo slot, Monday through Friday, and use a dry erase marker to check things off on the glass once I am done! (Dry erase marker wipes right off of glass and mirrors.)

My husband, I'm afraid, would think that was too obsessive!

*Where's My Stuff? Arrows

Alternate Use: I would use these as reminders in my launchpad area for items that have to leave the house, but are stored elsewhere. Food in the fridge? A green arrow pointing to the fridge.

*Password Organizer

This password organizer slips right into your purse or is easily hid anywhere in your office or home.

Alternate Use: Instead of writing passwords directly, I'd use a code.

I would add my childhood phone number around any password and add the first two letters of the URL to the password. So even if someone stole this list maker from my purse, they still couldn't read my passwords.

For example, if my childhood number was 555-555-5555, the site is www.GiftieEtcetera.com, and my password is Th!2blg68Gi (with the Gi standing for the first two letters in the URL of GiftieEtcetera), I'd write down something like:

55T5h!55552bl5g6558 (without the Gi, since I know when I visit the site, I ALWAYS add those first two letters).

Who would ever guess that password? But I can eliminate my childhood phone number and add the Gi and I know the password!

Jewelry Organizer

This jewelry organizer is a great gift for any woman or teenage girl.

Alternate Use: This would be a great sticky note memo box for the whole family! For a family of

*Key Finder, Bluetooth

This little gadget is the coolest thing on my gift guide list. It helps you use your cell phone to find lost keys.

Alternate Use: Don't limit yourself to keys. Attach some to your remote controls, your Xbox controller, your purse...whatever you are forever losing! The only downside is that if yo attach one to your cell phone, you need someone else's cell phone to find it. That's fine, though. Just swap with a roommate or spouse!

*Sunglasses Case

Every organized person needs a sunglasses case.

Alternate Use: Okay, confession time...I love this because it matches my Flourish planner. That gave me the idea to use this as a crush proof container in my purse or work tote, for carrying some small post-its, a tiny stapler, a hole punch, and some ink pens.

Etcetera.

  1. What a bunch of great ideas for gifts!

My daughter has a lot of jewelry. I may need to get her one of those jewelry cabinets that you mentioned or something similar.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  2. That jewelry armoire is to die for! And that eyeglass case that matches your Flourish - did you squee in the store when you spotted it??

You inspired me a while ago to do my own Amazon wishlist. After previewing it, all I can say is that I have a stationery fetish!
