My Loyal Readers know that I rely heavily on my calendar, so I feel like I need to explain why Habit Happen When You Least Expect is my flashback post this week.
In my opinion, the best time to build habits is NOT on New Year's Day.
Instead, I recommend building habits now!
If you haven't read Habits Happen When You Least Expect, don't forget to do so.
I'm still doing almost all of those things, but I have some habits that I am trying to cultivate currently.
I want to hang up clothes as soon as it comes out of the dryer.
I am trying to eat fruit when I am snacking.
For budget reasons, I am trying to always write down things I need on the grocery list, as the need arises, so I'm not guessing what to buy at the grocery store. I buy what I need and leave everything else at the store.
Let me know in the comments what habit you plan to start working on today!
Etcetera.
Right now I've been working on bringing my lunch to work. I've been bringing my laptop too so I have more time to work on Simply Save on my lunch break and that has really helped me avoid eating out! Thanks for sharing on the #SmallVictoriesSundayLinkup.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to drink more water, and having more herbal tea instead of things like diet coke. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm working on some of the same things like hanging up clothes right away (I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've refreshed them only to get busy and forget again!) and eating more fruit. Also, not procrastinating about paying bills or doing other not-so-fun chores! I look forward to reading your habits post. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the same page with you in many of your goals. Another for me is continuing to walk every day, which I know is going to be tough once the snow is on the ground.
ReplyDeleteOver the weekend I decided that I really need to eat better. I'm not a kid anymore, I have to stop snacking on junk all day long!
ReplyDeleteSo true. New Year is full of hype and false expectations. Today is full of reality!! Our family started using www.dayzeroproject.com to set bucket list goals (some big some small) which is along the same line as setting goals. It has been a good thing to keep us focused on habits we want to grow in or things we want to do throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with starting new habits now! The idea of the New Year's Resolution always seems to flag failure as most people don't reach the end of January. Thanks for reminding us about making good habits now and linking up with us at #AnythingGoes
ReplyDeleteI am a habit freak. I love to read about habits. To me it is doing tiny habits. My favorite one is to do a push up after you pee. I wasn't even able to do one on my hands when I started. Now I do 5 regular pushups every time I go.
ReplyDeletedrinking more water and logging food are two main habits i have started trying to adopt.
ReplyDeleteI have recently started going to a spin class to try to get exercise into a routine each week. Instead of my usual plan of starting in the new year, when everyone else would be trying to get to the class I started six weeks ago. Seems to working so far.
