Those works of art were truly wonderful. I hated to see them banned.
Some of the girls would inch up their almost-knee length skirts, write their cheat sheets on their thighs, and use the answers during tests.
It was probably a good rule.
However, in the interest of full disclosure, I was NOT the best example for the kids. I can't count the many times I mumbled something about, "do as I say, not as I do" while simultaneously rubbing the purple ink that I used for grading papers from my hand or wrist. Oops!
I still write on myself sometimes.
Truly, though, a planner is a better idea for jotting things down, even if you just jot it on a blank sheet on your planner dashboard.
A planner note doesn't disappear when you wash your hands or take a shower.
A scribble in your planner doesn't make you look like you have a prison tattoo.
Ink on paper is still there a week from now, when you actually find time to do the task.
Your planner probably has a place where the information fits nicely, like a calendar or a to do list. (Seriously, your inner arm is no place to remind yourself about next Wednesday's office party.)
People (and by people, I mean my loving, well-meaning, risking his peaceful household husband if he keeps telling me not to write on myself) make less fun of you for writing on paper than for writing on your feet.
What? Like you've never doodled on your feet?!?
Finally, a quick Google search PROVES that you only get ink poisoning by drinking ink. And Google knows all, so there!
Etcetera.

i used to be really bad about jotting notes on my hands, grocery lists even! finally i started using a planner for that purpose, but every once in awhile i have to stop myself
ReplyDeleteOh, but writing in one's hand is use of the original "palm pilot!"
ReplyDeleteTruth! I used to have to plead with my mom not to punish me for writing all over my body! :)
